Andoni Iraola has been criticised for playing Alisson in Liverpool's Champions League win over LASK. The Brazilian has a history of injury problems and even with their hectic schedule over the coming weeks, Iraola opted to name him in the starting XI over Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Rotation decisions questioned
Virgil van Dijk, Milos Kerkez and Victor Munoz were among the first-team players rested while Bradley Barcola started and scored a hat-trick. Stephen Warnock discussed the importance of keeping him in the team but he was left furious by the decision to keep Alisson in goal.
“It's also a chance for Barcola to get some minutes in his legs and get a bit sharper, but Iraola's main thinking now must be to rest his key players for Saturday's game at Brentford,” he said on MOTD: UEFA Champions League.
Warnock's warning
“That's the important one, and it's going to be a much bigger test than this. So it's the right thing to do to give [Virgil] Van Dijk a break, but I am not sure why Alisson is playing and risking a potential injury.”
