Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has said the club will need to be patient with Jack Hinshelwood after the midfielder sustained an injury during a training session.
Hinshelwood missed Thursday's 4-0 Conference League win over Tromso after suffering a “minor” issue the previous day. Reports had suggested the 21-year-old could be out for up to six weeks, but Hurzeler offered a more encouraging update ahead of the weekend.
Possible return for Chelsea trip
The Brighton manager said there was a possibility that either Hinshelwood or Georginio Rutter, who also missed the Tromso victory, could be involved.
“With both, we have to be patient,” Hurzeler told reporters. “I didn't see them yet today but there might be a chance for one of them to be in the squad.”
“I think with Jack we have to be more patient. Let's see how the next weeks are going.”
Minor issue in training
Hurzeler played down the severity of Hinshelwood's problem but admitted the timing could prevent him from featuring this weekend.
“He had a small issue in a training session, nothing big, but for the weekend it might be too close,” he said.
The German added that Brighton would assess both players on a day-to-day basis rather than set a specific return date.
Replacements available
“With Gini I see a higher chance that he might be part of the squad,” Hurzeler said.
“It's always a massive loss to lose important players but I will never complain about this,” he added. “We will find solutions for that. We will have good replacements.”
