William Gallas Backs Bukayo Saka for Ballon d'Or Challenge

Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has heaped praise on Bukayo Saka, comparing the 21-year-old to Erling Haaland and setting a Ballon d'Or challenge for the England winger. Gallas, who once captained Arsenal but later moved to Tottenham, acknowledged Saka's remarkable form this season.

Saka has scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League this season, already surpassing his totals from last season. He has also become a key player for England, scoring and assisting in their recent win over Ukraine.

Gallas told Genting Casino: 'With the season that he is having now, I think he is maybe one of the best young players in the world. You’ve got players that are a similar age who are also doing great things. Haaland is 22. I put him on the roof. I think you can put Saka just behind him.'

The former France international added: 'I hope he is going to be one of the players that will challenge for the Ballon d’Or in the future because he has the quality for it.' Gallas also expects Saka to score at least 20 goals per season by the time he turns 24.

Saka is reportedly close to signing a new lucrative contract worth £300,000 per week with bonuses, extending his stay at Arsenal. The Gunners are currently challenging for the Premier League title, with 10 games remaining.
