Jack Grealish was told to stay at home for Everton's Carabao Cup last-16 tie against Newcastle United after the club confirmed a breach of discipline.
The former England international was expected to be in the squad for the clash on Merseyside, but the Toffees circulated a press statement as the team news dropped. It read: "Jack Grealish is unavailable for selection due to a breach of Club discipline."
Newcastle make one change
Newcastle fielded a strong team at the Hill Dickinson Stadium as they bid to reach the quarter-finals and take on Fleetwood Town of League Two. The Magpies made just one change to the line-up that beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in the Premier League on Sunday, with Jacob Ramsey coming in for Joelinton.
Both Lewis Miley and Matias Fernandez-Pardo missed out due to a glutes issue for Miley and illness for Fernandez-Pardo. A Newcastle team bulletin read: "Ramsey's inclusion in the Magpies line-up for the first time since September's third round win at Millwall is head coach Matthias Jaissle's only change from the side that beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in the Premier League on Sunday."
Team news and bench
Lukáš Horníček continued in goal, with Amar Dedić, Fabian Schär, captain Dan Burn and Lewis Hall forming a back four. Nico González partnered Ramsey in midfield, with Joe Willock also starting and Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes out wide.
Will Osula, who scored at Selhurst Park at the weekend, led the line. The bench included Anthony Elanga, Yoane Wissa, Bazoumana Touré, Joelinton, Sean Steur, Aladji Bamba, Sven Botman, Malick Thiaw and Nick Pope.
