Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has secured his international future with Argentina, earning his third senior appearance in a 3-0 win over Bolivia last Tuesday. The 19-year-old, born in Spain, qualified for Argentina through his mother and previously represented Spain at Under-18s level.
Argentina Under-20s coach Javier Mascherano expressed gratitude for Garnacho's decision. 'Garnacho's discovery is Garnacho's and his decision to want to play for Argentina,' Mascherano told TyC Sports. 'We are grateful. We are happy that the players who are projected can play in the major league.'
Garnacho made his senior debut for Argentina in June, appearing as a substitute against Australia and Indonesia. FIFA rules require three senior appearances to cement international allegiance, which he achieved against Bolivia.
The winger has started United's opening two Premier League fixtures this season and appeared off the bench in their 3-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
