Fulham Stage Dramatic Comeback to Defeat Burnley 3-1
Fulham produced a stunning second-half turnaround to secure a 3-1 victory over Burnley at Craven Cottage, a result that pushes their former manager Scott Parker's side perilously closer to Premier League relegation. Goals from Josh King, Harry Wilson, and a late penalty from Raul Jimenez overturned Zian Flemming's opener for the Clarets, who now face a daunting nine-point gap to safety with only seven matches remaining.
Second-Half Surge Seals the Points
The match was a tale of two halves, with a largely forgettable first period giving way to a flurry of action after the break. Burnley had taken the lead on the hour mark when Lyle Foster's first-time cross found Zian Flemming, who swept the ball home from 10 yards for his ninth goal of the season. However, Fulham's response was swift and decisive.
Just seven minutes later, Josh King finally broke his Premier League duck in bizarre fashion. After both he and Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dubravka missed Sander Berge's cross, King spun around to tap into an empty net, marking a significant personal milestone after having a goal wrongly disallowed by VAR back in August.
Wilson Shines as Jimenez Seals the Win
Fulham then took the lead through Harry Wilson, who cut inside and drilled a low left-footed shot inside the near post for his 10th goal of the campaign. Wilson was comfortably the standout performer on the pitch, having earlier tested Dubravka with a couple of efforts. The victory was sealed deep into stoppage time when substitute Raul Jimenez converted from the penalty spot after Josh Laurent was sent off for bringing him down in the box.
Relegation Fears Mount for Burnley
This defeat represents a significant blow to Burnley's survival hopes, leaving them nine points adrift of safety—a gap that could widen further after Sunday's fixtures. For manager Scott Parker, who led Fulham to promotion in 2020 and relegation a year later, the prospect of repeating that cycle with Burnley now looks increasingly likely. The Clarets had appeals for a first-half penalty waved away after Calvin Bassey blocked Flemming's shot with his arm, but VAR ruled no infringement as Bassey's arm was supporting him during a slide.
Despite creating chances, including a diving header from Flemming that was saved by Bernd Leno, Burnley were ultimately undone by Fulham's clinical finishing in the second half. With only seven games left to play, Parker's side face an uphill battle to avoid the drop, while Fulham can reflect on a hard-fought victory that highlights their resilience and attacking prowess.
