Frosinone president Maurizio Stirpe has stated that the club are not obligated to sell Fares Ghedjemis, as Celtic and Rangers continue to battle for the winger's signature.
Bids rejected
The Light Blues reportedly saw an £8 million-plus bid for the long-time Celtic target turned down, just days after a bid from the Hoops was also rejected. Both Glasgow clubs are keen on the in-demand winger, with Ligue 1 side Monaco also reportedly interested.
Stirpe's stance
Speaking at the club's season launch, Stirpe acknowledged that there was a time when Frosinone would have had to sell, but after promotion to Serie A, that is no longer the case. He said: "If I had been left alone, selling Ghedjemis would have been a necessity tomorrow morning. Today, it's something we can even ignore."
However, Renzo Castagnini insisted the club would continue to listen to offers for their prize asset. He added: "The president was clear: first, selling him had to be a necessity, but today it may not be. We know we can keep him. However, it's a club's duty to listen to offers."
Rangers and Celtic interest
Rangers are on the brink of landing Japan winger Daisuke Yokota and have been linked with a host of wingers including Oguz Aydin and Amario Cozier-Duberry. Martin O'Neill has publicly spoken about Ghedjemis and admits he is a player he wants to join Celtic, but a deal appears far from straightforward.
