Steven Pressley insists Bradley Fink will give the Dundee frontline “something different”. The new signing was signed on the morning of the derby. The ex-Borussia Dortmund striker, who has come in from Wycombe Wanderers on-loan for the season, came off the bench and helped Dundee see out the win.

Pressley admitted: “It was important to bring in something a little bit different and he gives us great size. “He's got good link, good connection. He's a good technical player. Although, you know, at 6'4", people may think he's a target striker, he's not really a target striker. He's good with his head in the box, but he's not a target striker.”
Wycombe signed him from Basel last season but after a season feel he would benefit from first-team football north of the border. Pressley aims to develop the former Swiss under-21 cap and send him back a better player, as he did with the likes of Cam Congreve and Tony Yogane last season.
Development and improvement areas
The Dundee head coach, who will see his side take on Hibs this weekend, claimed: “He's got good link play, good connection, but his aerial tools is an area of improvement for him. We think that that's one of the areas that he can improve. “But just his ability to connect and link the play, we think he's technically strong there. And we also think he's a very good finisher. He falls into that category, again, that he’s just lost his way a little bit. There was high expectation of him in the early days and we need to try and get him back on track because we think he's a really interesting player.”
Striker options and further signings
Dundee were busy in boosting their forward options last weekend. They also brought in Bobby Wales from Swansea City. It gives Dundee two fit strikers, along with Joe Westley. Captain Simon Murray is likely to be out for the season and Ash Hay will still be out for several weeks. It was important for Dundee to strengthen in that area, as they want to play with two strikers.
Pressley stated: “No, our intention is still to play with two strikers. But each brings something different to the team. So, you know, it gives us much better competition for places. And of course, when we get Ash Hay back, I think that four strikers, when you're playing with two strikers, is essential. So I think it adds competition, again, I go back to that, which you hope also breeds performance.”
Dundee are also closing in on another loan deal for Bournemouth defender Matai Akinmboni. They had a GBE hearing for the American under-20 cap on Tuesday. Akinmboni has been training with Dundee for the last fortnight. Dundee still want to bring in another central defender and another wide option before the transfer window closes.
