Football fans have accused FIFA of a “monumental betrayal” after the latest World Cup ticket prices were revealed. A price list published by the German football federation showed group stage tickets ranging from $180 to $700, far higher than FIFA’s earlier claim of $60 tickets. The lowest price for the final was $4,185, with the highest reaching $8,680.
Fan organisation Football Supporters Europe (FSE) described the prices as “extortionate” and said the move ignores the contribution of supporters to the spectacle. The English Football Association informed the England Supporters Travel Club that buying a ticket for every game through to the final would cost just over $7,000.
FIFA launched its third phase of ticket sales on Thursday, with fans able to apply for specific matches for the first time via a random selection draw. The draw opened on 11 December and closes on 13 January 2026. Successful applicants will be notified in February and charged automatically.
FIFA has adopted dynamic pricing for the first time at the World Cup, meaning prices are subject to change. The governing body has also set up its own resale platform, charging a 15% fee on the total resale price. Any remaining tickets will go on general sale on a first-come, first-served basis closer to the tournament.
