FIFA has charged Argentina players Nahuel Molina and Leandro Paredes, as well as coach Roberto Ayala, for their roles in a post-match fight following Spain's 1-0 victory in the World Cup final. The altercation occurred at MetLife Stadium and involved multiple individuals from both teams.
Charges against Argentina
Molina faces two counts of assault (one completed and one attempted) and one count of unsporting behaviour. Paredes has been hit with three counts of assault. Ayala faces one count of assault and one count of unsportsmanlike behaviour.
One Spain player also charged
Spain midfielder Gavi was charged with one count of unsporting behaviour. No other Spanish players or staff faced charges from FIFA's investigation.
