Everton host Coventry in Premier League Friday night clash

Everton can climb to fifth in the Premier League table with a home win over newly-promoted Coventry City on Friday night at Hill Dickinson Stadium. A victory for the Blues would put them level on points with Chelsea and one ahead of Liverpool.

The Merseyside club head into the match on the back of two successive wins over Newcastle United, one in the Carabao Cup and one in the league. Manager David Moyes will be hoping to give the home crowd more to celebrate, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm.

Team news and selection

Everton are aiming for a third win in eight days when they take on Coventry. Moyes hopes to have Jarrad Branthwaite available after the defender cramped up in the latter of the two victories over Newcastle. The Everton boss confirmed on Thursday that Jack Grealish remains unavailable, meaning the midfielder will miss a fourth straight match and a third since being dropped from the squad for what was described as a “breach of club discipline”.

Frank Lampard's return

Coventry arrive on the banks of the Mersey with former Everton boss Frank Lampard in charge. Lampard led Coventry into the Premier League, and his side have recorded three wins in their first nine games back in the top flight.

Bet365 price Everton as favourites at 8/13 for the three points, with Coventry at 17/4 and the draw at 3/1. Betting is restricted to those aged 18 and over, with gambling responsibly encouraged.
