Everton's away supporters made their feelings clear during the Premier League match at Bournemouth, chanting against the potential sale of teenage midfielder Harrison Armstrong. From kick-off, the travelling fans sang: “Don’t sell Armstrong, Harrison Armstrong, I just don’t think you understand. If you sell Armstrong, Harrison Armstrong, you’re gonna have a riot on your hands.”
The intervention reflected a fanbase weary of off-pitch instability, with concerns over the transfer window simmering all summer. Those worries reached boiling point on the south coast, where Everton often struggle, though they found late salvation through James Tarkowski's goal.
Transfer fears overshadow match
The ongoing search for a right-back and fears over the potential loss of Iliman Ndiaye set the tone for the trip. When news broke that Nottingham Forest were pursuing Armstrong with no immediate pushback from club sources, the mood among fans travelling from Merseyside turned mutinous.
The teenager has not been sold yet, but the anger over the prospect has reached Friedkin Group chiefs. Bournemouth led at the break when Alex Scott's effort deflected off Mykolenko and past a diving Pickford. The Cherries had other chances in an entertaining first half, with Rayan drilling against Pickford's legs and hitting a dipping shot onto the roof of the net.
Everton started well, with Petrovic denying Jarrad Branthwaite from a corner and producing another fine stop to deny Barry. He also pushed an Ndiaye effort wide as Everton posed questions of the home defence. The final whistle brought a useful point, but attention quickly turned back to Armstrong and the final throes of a transfer window heading for a telling climax.
