Spain international Esther González has departed NJ/NY Gotham FC to sign for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, bringing her two-year stint in the National Women's Soccer League to an end.
Move to Saudi Arabia Confirmed
The 32-year-old forward, who helped Spain win the 2023 Women's World Cup, joined Gotham in August 2023. During her time at the club, she scored 12 goals in 35 appearances across all competitions.
González played a key role in Gotham's run to the NWSL Championship final in 2024, where the team fell short. Her move to Al-Nassr marks a significant transfer as the Saudi Women's Premier League continues to attract high-profile international talent.
Gotham's Reaction
Gotham FC confirmed the transfer in a statement, thanking González for her contributions and wishing her well in her new chapter. The club did not disclose the financial details of the deal.
González's departure leaves a void in Gotham's attacking line as the team prepares for the 2026 NWSL season. The club will look to reinforce its squad ahead of the new campaign.
