England are through to the World Cup last-16 after coming from behind to beat DR Congo 2-1, thanks to a Harry Kane brace. The Three Lions fell behind as early as the seventh minute in the Atlanta Stadium when Jordan Pickford allowed a Brian Cipenga shot to creep in at his near post.
DR Congo Threatens to Extend Lead
DR Congo then went close to doubling their lead when Yoane Wissa struck the outside of the post from close range, while Kane had a penalty claim turned down shortly before half-time. With Lionel Mpasi in inspired form for DR Congo, it looked like he was going to be the unlikely hero until he was finally beaten by a Kane header with 15 minutes remaining.
Kane Completes Turnaround
The Bayern Munich striker then completed the turnaround in the 87th minute, sending an effort into the roof of the net as England survived stoppage time to advance in the knockout stage. More follows.
