Eberechi Eze could not suppress a grin when asked about his decision to join Arsenal over Tottenham after lifting the Premier League trophy on Sunday. The attacking midfielder and his Arsenal teammates were crowned champions earlier in the week after Manchester City failed to beat Bournemouth. They celebrated with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, clinching Arsenal's first domestic title in 22 years.
Things could have turned out very differently for Eze, who had the opportunity to join Arsenal's bitter rivals last summer. However, Mikel Arteta hijacked the move, and Eze eventually joined the Gunners. In a jovial interview with NBC Sports, former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon asked Eze if he felt he had made the right decision. Eze, smiling, replied: "I'm pretty sure I did."
Spurs' Relegation Scare
While Arsenal lifted the trophy, Tottenham were left fretting over their Premier League status after becoming embroiled in a relegation battle. They stayed up by the skin of their teeth with a nervy 1-0 win over Everton, condemning West Ham to the drop. Not only had Tottenham been spurned by Eze in the summer, but the midfielder also scored a hat-trick against them in the north London derby and bagged a brace in the second game, which also ended 4-1.
Champions League Final Ahead
Arsenal could add to their Premier League triumph with victory in the Champions League. Eze was asked about the special feeling in the dressing room ahead of next weekend's final against Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest. "It's faith," he replied. "Faith and belief. It's showing itself in so many different places. I just feel like everyone's got this feeling that we can do it, that we can achieve things. I feel like that feeling is all over the place really."
