Camilo Duran insists Celtic can still be European glory hunters despite their Champions League horror show. The Colombian is adamant continental success remains the top priority this season as they look to banish the memory of a capitulation to LASK last midweek by launching a Europa League assault.
Europa League challenge ahead
Martin O’Neill’s side continued their winning Premiership start with a weekend win over Falkirk and have landed Hungary’s Ferencvaros, Benfica, Celta Vigo, Besiktas, Union St-Gilloise, Omonia Nicosia, Torreense and French cracks Marseille in Europe’s second tier competition.
It’s a challenge which Duran is relishing and he’s convinced they can still come good on the continent after getting back to winning ways against the Bairns.
Duran: Losing in Austria was disappointing
He said: “It was a difficult few days for everyone after going out of the Champions League.
“But we now have the Europa League with some good games to look forward to.
“It’s one of our big objectives now.
“Our aim is to have a good campaign in that competition now and that’s what we will prepare for.
“Losing in Austria last week was obviously disappointing.
“But we knew we had to lift our heads and kick on, especially at home in front of our fans.
“It was pleasing that we did that. We now have to rest up before our next game this week.”
