Darwin Nunez Set for Premier League Return as Liverpool Owners Make U-Turn on Ticket Prices

Darwin Nunez could be heading back to the Premier League after agreeing to leave Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal less than a year into his stint there. The Uruguayan striker, who joined Liverpool in 2022 for £64 million before being sold to Al-Hilal for £46 million last summer, has struggled in the Middle East. He was deregistered from the squad following Karim Benzema's arrival in January due to foreign player restrictions and has not played since February.

Nunez has reportedly struck a deal with Al-Hilal to leave at the end of the season, potentially as a free agent if his contract is terminated. While a return to Liverpool is not on the cards, several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United and Chelsea, are monitoring his situation. Juventus are also reportedly interested as they prepare for life without Dusan Vlahovic.

Meanwhile, Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group have made a partial U-turn on plans to increase ticket prices after fan protests. The club had planned fixed price increases through to 2030, but following talks with fan groups, they have agreed to raise general admission by three per cent next year and freeze prices for the following two seasons. The club said in a statement that they will use this period to seek longer-term solutions to avoid future increases.

On the pitch, Liverpool face Chelsea on Saturday as they aim to secure Champions League qualification. They currently sit fourth in the Premier League with 58 points, but a top-five finish is not guaranteed with matches against Aston Villa and Brentford to follow. Arne Slot's side have failed to defend their title from last season.
