Crystal Palace have made an opening offer for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, a £43m-rated target for Manchester United and Liverpool, according to reports.
Palace first to bid for Camara
French outlet Foot Mercato claim Palace are the first club to submit a 'concrete offer' for the 22-year-old. The Eagles have been monitoring Camara for months and have enquired about a potential transfer.
Nottingham Forest are also preparing a bid, while United and Liverpool 'remain in the hunt' but are biding their time before making formal approaches.
Monaco's valuation and Camara's profile
It is not known how much Palace's offer is worth, but Monaco will accept nothing less than €50m (£43m) for their star midfielder. Camara joined Monaco from Metz two years ago for around £13m and is under contract until 2029.
Last season, he recorded three goals and four assists in 24 Ligue 1 appearances, was part of Senegal's World Cup squad, and helped his nation reach the Africa Cup of Nations final this year.
Both United and Liverpool are in the market for central midfield reinforcements, with the new season starting in less than two weeks. United have already signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans but want one more after Casemiro's departure and Manuel Ugarte's injury. Liverpool's new boss Andoni Iraola wants to bolster his midfield, especially with Curtis Jones expected to leave.
Palace have stepped up their transfer plans in recent days, signing former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu and plotting a move for Chelsea starlet Josh Acheampong.
