Diego Costa and Martin Skrtel renewed their long-standing feud during a legends charity match at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea and Liverpool legends faced off to raise funds for their respective foundations.
The rivalry, which dates back to 2015 when Costa received a three-game ban for allegedly stamping on Skrtel and Emre Can, resurfaced when Skrtel, now 40, delivered a hard tackle from behind on Costa. The Spaniard sprang up and squared up to the defender, who escaped without a booking.
Moments later, Costa exacted revenge with a body slam on Skrtel, earning a yellow card and continuing to exchange words with the Slovak before teammates intervened to cool tensions. Despite the on-pitch clash, the pair appeared to make amends at full time, with Costa posting a photo of them together at an afterparty on Instagram, accompanied by a heart emoji.
Ryan Babel scored the only goal of the match late in the second half, finishing a counter-attack to secure victory for Liverpool. Chelsea's legends side included Champions League winners John Terry, Gary Cahill, and Eden Hazard.
