Clyde manager Darren Young believes his team were denied two clear penalties for shirt pulls in the box during their narrow 1-0 defeat to Dumbarton at the Rock on Saturday.
The Bully Wee were unable to build on their 3-1 opening day win over Stranraer, with Scott Honeyman's 58th-minute strike proving the difference. Young was left frustrated that Keir Gilligan and Logan Dunachie were not awarded spot-kicks for what he described as clear shirt pulls.
Young's frustration over penalty claims
Speaking to club media, Young said: "The goal is another gifted one and we have to do better. We give the chance away and they obviously take it. It is frustrating and really disappointing because I think at that point in the match we were on top."
He added: "The first half was a scrappy affair but we have a great piece of play down the right hand side where we pull a shot wide when we are expecting it to hit the back of the net. On top of that, we have three or four corners that bounced about and we couldn't get it in the back of the net."
Two penalty claims waved away
Young highlighted two specific incidents: "Then, at the end of the first half we have what, as far as we are concerned, is a clear pull on Keir. The big centre half has grabbed him and I don't know how the referee or his assistant hasn't seen it. That was very disappointing.
"When we lost the goal, we reacted well and there is also another claim for a penalty when Logan has got his top pulled just about over his head and I don't know how the ref doesn't see it. We are 50 yards away and we can see his top is up. His top has not just magicked itself up. For us, it is a penalty."
Late corner claim adds to frustration
Young also felt his side were denied a corner late on: "Then there's another chance at the end where Marley has a strike and the defender clears it. It clearly hits him and should be a corner, but they get a goal kick just to rub salt into the wounds. It is really frustrating that we don't get anything from the game."
The Bully Wee now travel to Annan on Saturday, with kick-off at 3pm.
