Chelsea picked up a big three points on the road with a 2-0 win at Everton, extending their improving form in the Premier League. Pedro Neto opened the scoring in the second half and added a second late on to wrap up the victory.
Xabi Alonso's side responded well after losing goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to injury, keeping their first clean sheet in the Premier League since January. Metro hands out player ratings for Chelsea after a successful day at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Goalkeeper and defence
Emiliano Martinez – 6: Penalised for taking too long with his goal kick but made up for it moments later to deny Thierno Barry's header. His game ended just after the hour mark after a nasty clash of heads with Jarrad Branthwaite.
Josh Acheampong – 7: Tasked with keeping Jack Grealish quiet and coped well – on the receiving end of a crunching tackle from Harry Armstrong as the game heated up in the first half.
Maxime Lacroix – 7: A calm presence at the back again, quickly becoming Chelsea's leader at the back.
Levi Colwill – 6: Much the same as his defensive partners – did little wrong in what was a much improved performance from Chelsea as a defensive unit.
Midfield and attack
Pedro Neto – 8: Took his first goal well and was an effective threat down Chelsea's right-hand side all game. Produced another instinctive finish late on to wrap up all three points with his first Premier League double.
Moises Caicedo – 7: Struck the woodwork with an absolutely sensational volley in a play straight off the training ground – a goal of the season contender had it gone in. Wore the captain's armband today and with Reece James facing a long spell out, gave a good account of himself as skipper.
Jordan Henderson – 7: While Caicedo wore the armband, it was another assured performance from the former Liverpool captain next to him.
Jorrel Hato – 7: Overlapped well for Chelsea's opening goal, showing great speed and strength to hold off his man and force the ball back across goal for Neto.
Cole Palmer – 7: Worked hard trying to break down Everton's defence in the first half and looked dangerous and confident throughout.
Morgan Rogers – 8: Produced a marvellous piece of skill over near the touchline for Chelsea's opener – while the assist went to Hato, it was his magic that sparked the move. Showed great strength to hold off his man with his backheel pass right on the money.
Joao Pedro – 6: Appeals for a first-half penalty turned away – a tough afternoon up top on his own and had a quiet afternoon by his recent standards.
