Good Morning Britain's Ranvir Singh Recalls 'Crushing' On-Air Blunder Forgetting Donald Trump's Name

Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh has spoken about a 'crushing' live television blunder in 2017 when she forgot Donald Trump's surname on air. She recounted the incident on Holly Rubenstein's The Travel Diaries podcast.

Singh explained that she had been awake for 27 hours while preparing to cover Theresa May's first visit to the US to meet the newly elected president in January 2017. Standing in freezing conditions at 1 am, she said: 'I promptly, for about five seconds, which in TV terms is a lifetime, I forget Donald Trump's surname. I just go "Theresa May is meeting Donald.... nope, it's gone". It was just crushing.'

The presenter noted that her colleagues took the error in good humour, as the conversational style of the show allowed her to explain her exhaustion. She also revealed she could not share her true thoughts on Trump at the time, saying: 'The words in my brain are probably not the ones that are journalistic.'
