Celtic suffered arguably their worst ever European collapse as they spectacularly threw away a four-goal lead to crash out of the Champions League. The Hoops took a three-goal advantage to Austria and looked home and dry when Callum McGregor struck early in Linz to make it 4-0 on aggregate. But a stunning five-goal capitulation saw Martin O'Neill's men blow their Champions League dreams as LASK produced a scarcely believable comeback to qualify for the league phase for the first time in their history.
Goalkeeper and defence ratings
Viljami Sinisalo - 5
The Finnish keeper kept a clean sheet on his Champions League debut last week, but there was never much chance of another shutout as Sinisalo picked the ball out of his net five times. Left scrambling as Andres Andrade's deflected long-ranger rattled off the post. Beaten by Robert Ljubicic from 20 yards just two minutes after the restart, then Samuel Adeniran bent in a sensational third. Pulled off a stunning save to deny Florian Flecker, only to watch the Austrian bury the rebound and complete the comeback. Then shipped a nightmare fifth as Adeniran unleashed another long-range rocket. Dived the right way to keep out Adeniran's penalty. Couldn't really fault him for any of the goals.
Colby Donovan - 6
Copped a sore one when Samuel Adeniran clattered into him and somehow escaped a booking. Recovered to make a couple of crucial blocks and showed real intent going forward, surging forward to create chances in the first half. Pinned back after the break as LASK went for Celtic's throats. Landed an earful from O'Neill when he signalled he had to come off with a hamstring injury. His wily old gaffer ordered him to go down rather than allow LASK to take a free-kick. One of the few Celtic players who can hold his head high.
Cameron Carter-Vickers - 6
Took one for the team with a sliding block to deny Ljubicic's rocket. Put his body on the line time and again as LASK turned the game into chaos. Constantly communicated with young Donovan as he tried to marshal the backline. Halted Adeniran in his tracks before he could go one-on-one with Sinisalo and used every part of his body to clear anything that came his way. Suffered cramp but battled through the pain barrier until extra time. A warrior in a defence that was eventually overrun.
Auston Trusty - 5
Trusty overcame a stomach bug to start in Linz but this was not one of his finest nights. Weak in the build-up to LASK's second as Moses Usor outmuscled him. Got bullied at times as the Austrian man-mountains threw everything they had at Celtic. Had a couple of ropey moments but also made some important interceptions. Couldn't keep the floodgates closed this time.
Kieran Tierney - 6
Had a faint penalty shout waved away after his shot was diverted clear. Swung in some probing balls for Hogh and sent Yang racing up the wing before the South Korean teed up McGregor for Celtic's opener. Made a goal-saving clearance as Adeniran's shot rattled off the woodwork, injuring himself in the process and eventually being replaced by Liam Scales.
Midfield and attack ratings
Callum McGregor - 6
The captain thought he'd settled the nerves when he broke the deadlock - his 14th goal in his 118th European appearance. McGregor kept his effort low as it deflected past the keeper. Then came the nightmare. The 33-year-old tried everything to rally his team-mates as Celtic's bottle crashed, but the skipper was powerless to stop the collapse.
Mika Baur - 5
Almost nudged Celtic in front when his poked effort trickled across the LASK box and dragged just wide of the post. Generally neat and tidy in possession and worked hard off the ball. But the German Under-21 international faded as the night wore on and was replaced by Hatate with an hour gone.
Benjamin Nygren - 4
Nygren made one of the most costly mistakes in Celtic's history when his dreadful backpass gifted the ball to Moses Usor, who made no mistake to level the score. Tried to link up with Hogh but little came off. Simply wasn't at the races and was hooked.
Camilo Duran - 4
Last week's two-goal hero was barely involved but put in the hard yards to help out young Donovan. Found Baur inside the box with a sweet flick as Celtic looked to regain control. Spent much of the second half operating as a right-wing back but struggled to make an impact when pushed further forward.
Kasper Hogh - 4
Was inches away from scoring when he almost got on the end of Baur's early effort. Could have slipped Duran in but went for goal and failed to make the contact he wanted. Almost pounced on another defensive mix-up but dinked his effort over the bar. Hustled and bustled all night but was starved of service. Was hobbling during the second period of extra time as a depleted Celtic side went out with a whimper.
Yang - 6
Set the tempo early on with his willingness to run in behind and was Celtic's main creative spark. Found Baur with a sensational outside-of-the-boot pass before assisting McGregor's opener after jinking his way through the LASK defence. Was surprisingly hooked for Sebastian Tounekti - a decision that left Celtic badly exposed on the left.

Reo Hatate (Nygren) - Tripped Krystof Danek for the penalty but Adeniran passed up his hat-trick from the spot. 2
Seb Tounekti (Yang) - Celtic badly missed Yang's defensive work-rate. Lightweight and offered precious little. 2
Luke McCowan (Baur) - Struggled to complete a pass. Booked. Then criminally caught in possession as LASK scored the decisive fifth. A nightmare cameo. 1
Liam Scales (Tierney) - Thrown on at left-back after Tierney hobbled off. Added some much-needed height. 2
Dane Murray (Donovan) - Played Florian Flecker onside for the aggregate-levelling fourth after a VAR check. 2
