Celtic are increasingly likely to sign Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan from Real Oviedo, according to a leading report in Spain. The Hoops have been chasing the World Cup star for weeks, and negotiations have now reached the final stages.
Breakthrough in Talks
Talks between the Scottish Premiership champions and Oviedo have been ongoing for several weeks. Oviedo-based newspaper La Nuevo Espana reports that Celtic have been pushing hard for Hassan and that a move to Parkhead is now likely.
Certain details still need to be ironed out, but discussions are heading in one direction, and a deal is expected to be concluded soon. Celtic are keen to finalise the transfer before their Champions League playoff round clash with LASK of Austria.
Significant Fee Expected
The fee to Oviedo is understood to be significant. Sporting director David Fernandez has previously insisted on the full £10 million release clause in Hassan's contract. Recent reports suggested Hassan was determined to move to Marseille, but Celtic's persistence appears to be paying off.
