Madonna Confirms She Has Missing Celta Vigo Shirt from 1990 Concert

Madonna has confirmed she still possesses a Celta Vigo football shirt she wore during a 1990 performance, responding to the Spanish club's public appeal for its return. The pop icon, 67, replied on X that the shirt is “hanging in my archives” and that she is “wearing and representing your team in spirit.”

Celta Vigo’s president, Marian Mourino Terrazo, had earlier written an open letter asking for help tracing the sky blue jersey, describing it as a “symbol of part of the emotional heritage of our club”. The letter referenced the 29 July 1990 concert at the club’s Balaidos stadium, where Madonna performed in the team’s distinctive kit.

In her appeal, Mourino stated that the photograph of Madonna wearing the shirt “has become a myth and is now part of our history”. She added that the club “hold[s] on to the hope of finding the garment you once wore”. Before Celta’s match against Real Madrid on Friday evening, the club played footage from the concert and staged a performance of Madonna’s hit ‘Like A Prayer’ with dancers on the pitch.
