Cardiff, returning to the Championship after a one-season spell in League One, aim to start with three points. Wrexham, in their second season in the division, hope to push for promotion after finishing two points off eventual play-off winners Hull in the previous campaign.
The teams last met during Cardiff's run to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals last season, where the Bluebirds emerged victorious before eventually losing to Chelsea.

Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy provided updates on two players. He said of Rubin Colwill: "Rubin's doing really well and making great progress. He has a chance." On Will Fish, he added: "Will Fish is having surgery on a hernia on Monday. He'll be out for three months." Gabriel Osho was deemed fit enough to feature.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson confirmed Josh Windass is out of the clash. He said: "The squad's decent, but we need Sheafy and Josh back in that which has been a frustration for those two over pre-season."
