Cardiff City have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland international Jack Moylan from Lincoln City on a four-year deal.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder becomes Brian Barry-Murphy's second signing of the summer, following goalkeeper Nathan Trott's permanent arrival earlier in the transfer window.
Moylan's standout season at Lincoln
Moylan joins the Bluebirds for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance, understood to be a low seven-figure upfront fee with bonuses added on, after enjoying a standout campaign with Lincoln that saw him score 11 league goals and register seven assists as the Imps secured automatic promotion to the Championship alongside Cardiff.
The creative midfielder was rewarded with a place in the League One Team of the Season alongside Cardiff defender Joel Bagan and was also nominated for the division's Player of the Season award.
Why Moylan chose Cardiff
Speaking after sealing his move to the Welsh capital, Moylan admitted Cardiff's stature and Barry-Murphy's footballing philosophy were key reasons behind his decision.
"I'm absolutely delighted to be here," he said.
"It's such a massive football club. In Ireland growing up, you watch Cardiff City as a Premier League club, so I'm absolutely over the moon to be here."
"There were a lot of factors. It's such a big club, such a nice city, and Brian has such a good reputation."
"The way he plays football, I think I'll really enjoy it. I've watched the team a lot over the last year and watched last weekend against Roma, and the football speaks for itself."
Moylan's playing style
Moylan arrives with a growing reputation as one of the Football League's brightest attacking midfielders after an exceptional season under Michael Skubala at Lincoln.
Comfortable playing as a No.10 or drifting in from the left, the Irishman believes Cardiff's fluid attacking style is perfectly suited to his game.
"Last year I played a lot in the 10 and off the left for Lincoln - I naturally drift to that side," he added.
"I think the shape here will really suit me because it's a footballing team who like to be versatile."
"When you're playing with such a good team, surrounded by players who are on the same wavelength as you, it's going to be really enjoyable."
International debut and impact
Moylan's impressive club form also earned him a first senior Republic of Ireland call-up at the end of last season.
He marked his international debut in remarkable fashion by scoring a hat-trick in a 5-0 victory over Grenada before finding the net again against Qatar in his second appearance for the Boys in Green.
His arrival comes as a timely boost for Cardiff, who have been eager to strengthen their attacking options ahead of their return to the Championship.
The Bluebirds have made an encouraging start under Barry-Murphy in pre-season, rounding off their preparations with an impressive 4-1 victory over Roma, and Moylan is expected to add further creativity to a squad that is still expected to be strengthened before the transfer window closes.
Having previously been described by Lincoln supporters as "a little magician" capable of producing moments of inspiration, Cardiff will hope Moylan can make a similarly immediate impact in blue as Barry-Murphy continues to reshape his squad for life back in the second tier.
