Caitlin Clark has made her much-anticipated return to the WNBA after nearly 10 months on the sidelines due to a groin injury. The 24-year-old star was seen arriving at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday morning ahead of the Indiana Fever's season opener against the Dallas Wings.
A Night of Excitement and Little Sleep
Clark admitted she barely slept on Friday night, so eager was she to step back onto the court. Dressed in a white top, checked jacket, jeans, and black heels, she made her way to the locker room, ready to face a formidable opponent led by last year's No. 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers and this year's No. 1 pick Azzi Fudd.
Injury Setback and Road to Recovery
Clark's injury occurred on July 15, 2025, forcing her to miss the All-Star Game and the Fever's final 22 regular-season games, as well as their impressive run to the WNBA semifinals. She returned to competitive action in March during Team USA's FIBA Women's World Cup qualifying games and later helped the Fever secure a preseason victory over New York, despite a shooting slump.
In a recent preseason home game, Clark briefly sparked injury concerns after a collision with Wings forward Alanna Smith, but she continued to play, scoring 21 points in a narrow loss. 'I feel good. I just landed on my kneecap really hard,' she commented, praising the referees for their consistent calls.
The two-time All-Star is now focused on a full recovery and contributing to the Fever's success in the new season.
