Bruno Guimaraes has vowed to be a "warrior" for Arsenal in his first interview since completing a £75 million move from Newcastle United. The Brazilian was unveiled on Saturday as the club's fourth summer signing, ending Mikel Arteta's pursuit of a new midfielder to provide competition alongside Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi.
New challenge
Guimaraes leaves Newcastle after four years, where he developed into one of Europe's top midfielders. He now aims to win trophies regularly, having lifted only the Carabao Cup during his time with the Magpies.
"I feel good, I feel amazing," he told Arsenal. "I'm glad for the opportunity. Since the first time I spoke to [Andrea] Berta and Mikel [Arteta], I was excited. I just felt inside of me that I need a new challenge in my life and I think to be an Arsenal player is going to be an exciting challenge in my life."
Warrior mentality
He added: "I think, after playing two World Cups, I think I'm at the point of my life, I think I need a challenge like this. I want to win trophies, I want to make history and I think I'm in the right place to do it. I'm so excited to start. We have tough games to play this season, so the squad is going to be very, very important and I'm hopeful we can achieve our dreams."
The 28-year-old has been brought in to both lift the floor and raise the ceiling of the squad, and he has promised to bring his tough-tackling style to north London. "I can pass the ball, run a lot and play like a warrior, I'll never give up," he said. "I will try to help the team, good with the ball, composed, very calm, and sometimes I can score some goals and hope to make everyone very, very happy here."

Guimaraes also acknowledged the messages from Arsenal fans during the protracted transfer talks. "The message for me is thank you for everything you have done. All the messages you gave me, I'm so excited to join you. I will give you my best, I promise. Like I said, I'm your warrior, I'll never give up. Hopefully we can create many, many good memories together."
