Bruno Guimaraes joins Newcastle pre-season amid Arsenal bid

Bruno Guimaraes has joined his Newcastle United team-mates in La Manga, Spain, for pre-season training following his post-World Cup break. The Brazilian international arrived on a commercial flight from South America and was driven to the Hotel Grand Hyatt Golf and Spa resort.

Despite ongoing speculation about his future, Guimaraes posted a picture of the resort from his bedroom window on Instagram after linking up with the squad. Arsenal recently had a £75m bid for the midfielder rejected outright by Newcastle, who are holding out for a higher fee.

Newcastle's stance on Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle sources insist a 'suitable bid' has yet to arrive, despite Arsenal intensifying their interest. The club values Guimaraes at around £70m, but Newcastle are believed to be seeking more than £80m for a player with two years left on his contract plus a one-year option.

Guimaraes is thought to still want a move, and a deal is likely if Arsenal meet the asking price. However, it remains uncertain whether the London club will stretch that far.

Pre-season plans and future

As reported by ChronicleLive at the weekend, Guimaraes was scheduled to meet Newcastle officials and new head coach Matthias Jaissle. The Brazilian's future has been a major talking point this summer, with Newcastle keen to retain their captain.

The club has already banked almost £175m from the sales of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali. Guimaraes appears ready to start work with the Magpies for at least the beginning of the 2026/27 season.
