Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma is facing further disciplinary action after the club opened an investigation into allegations he inhaled nitrous oxide for a second time. The Mali international was already dropped for repeated lateness before the Super Cup clash with Paris Saint-Germain in August and has yet to feature under manager Thomas Frank after subsequent knee and ankle injuries.
Bissouma has not played since May, and underwent ankle surgery in October. The latest controversy stems from footage reportedly showing him inhaling laughing gas in November. This is the second time in two seasons he has been embroiled in a nitrous oxide incident.
Former Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou handed Bissouma a one-match ban at the start of the 2024-25 campaign after he was previously filmed inhaling the substance. Bissouma apologised at the time for a 'severe lack of judgement'.
Nitrous oxide was made a Class C drug in 2023, making possession for recreational use an offence. A Tottenham spokesman told the Press Association: 'We are looking into the events and it will be dealt with as an internal matter.'
Bissouma has also deleted all references to Tottenham from his official Instagram account, raising further doubts about his future at the club. The 29-year-old last played for Spurs on 25 May against his former club Brighton.
