Axel Tuanzebe is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs after leaving Burnley as a free agent. The 28-year-old defender is without a team following Burnley's relegation from the Premier League.
World Cup performances spark interest
Tuanzebe impressed while playing for DR Congo in the recent World Cup, where they were eliminated by England in the opening knockout round. The former Manchester United centre-back featured in all four matches for his nation, and those performances have caught the eye of Everton and Brentford, as well as clubs in the Saudi Professional League.
Career so far
According to the Daily Mail, Tuanzebe is prepared for his next move after leaving the Clarets. Everton, managed by David Moyes, are looking to strengthen their defence, and Tuanzebe can also play at right-back. It is unclear which Saudi Pro League sides are interested, with talkSPORT reporting he is weighing up his options.
Tuanzebe made 16 appearances for Burnley last season, scoring once, but could not prevent their relegation. He played 37 times for Manchester United after breaking through in 2016-17, with loan spells at Aston Villa, Napoli, and Stoke City before leaving permanently in 2023.
He spent two years at Ipswich Town, helping them win promotion from the Championship in 2023-24, followed by one season in the Premier League. After their relegation, he signed a one-year deal with Burnley last summer, but after just one season, he is now looking for a new club.
