Former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has several clubs interested in signing him this summer. The 28-year-old is a free agent after leaving Burnley following their relegation from the Premier League.
World Cup performances attract attention
Tuanzebe impressed for DR Congo during their recent World Cup campaign, where they were knocked out by England in the first knockout game of the tournament. The former United defender, who came through the academy at the club, played all four games for his country.
Those displays have caught the eye of Premier League clubs Everton and Brentford, while also attracting interest from clubs in the Saudi Professional League.
Interest from Everton and Brentford
According to the Daily Mail, Tuanzebe is ready for his next challenge after leaving the Clarets earlier this summer. Everton, managed by David Moyes, are looking to add defensive reinforcements to their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign, with Tuanzebe also able to play at right-back.
It is unclear which Saudi Pro League clubs are plotting a move for the former United man, with TalkSPORT also claiming he is assessing his options.
Career so far
The defender made 16 appearances for Burnley last season, scoring one goal, and was unable to help the Clarets in the Premier League. Tuanzebe made 37 appearances for United after breaking into the first-team in 2016-17, enjoying loans at Aston Villa, Napoli, and Stoke City before leaving the club permanently in 2023.
He spent two years at Ipswich Town, helping them win promotion from the Championship in 2023-24, before one season in the top flight. Tuanzebe left the club following their relegation, joining Burnley on a one-year deal last summer. However, after just one season at Turf Moor, he is on the hunt for a new club.
