Arteta: Arsenal pushing for more signings

Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Arsenal are actively pursuing further signings before the transfer window closes, with the club aiming to strengthen their squad further.

Summer spending spree

The Gunners have already invested over £100 million in new players this summer. Piero Hincapie's loan from Bayer Leverkusen was made permanent in a £34.5 million deal, Christos Tzolis arrived from Club Brugge for £34 million, Illan Meslier joined after his Leeds contract expired, and Bruno Guimaraes was signed for £75 million from Newcastle.

Despite these additions, Arsenal, who enter the season as reigning Premier League champions, are not expected to halt their recruitment drive and are looking to add more players in the coming weeks.

Arteta's comments

Following Arsenal's 3-2 pre-season defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, Arteta revealed the club remains active in the summer window. "Well, that's what we're trying to do [sign more players]," Arteta said. "If we have the right player in the market to make us much better. We are very looking forward to that."

The club is particularly keen to secure a new defender before the transfer deadline.
