Arsenal have reportedly set an asking price of at least £77 million for midfielder Martin Zubimendi, with both Real Madrid and Chelsea showing interest in the Spain international this summer.
The Gunners are said to be unwilling to sanction Zubimendi's departure for anything less than €90 million (£77 million), according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo. The report suggests Real Madrid could capitalise on an "uncertain future" facing the 27-year-old at the Emirates Stadium.
Interest from Spain and England
Real Madrid are understood to be seeking a new midfielder and look set to miss out on securing Rodri, with Barcelona the Manchester City star's likeliest destination. Chelsea are also said to be keen, with new manager Xabi Alonso believed to be eager to bring Zubimendi to Stamford Bridge.
Zubimendi's position at Arsenal has come into question following the club's £75 million signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United. The Gunners have already agreed to sell Leandro Trossard to Besiktas in a £17 million deal this summer.
Recent arrival and impact
Arsenal brought Zubimendi to the club only last summer, securing his services from Real Sociedad in a transfer worth just over the £51 million release clause in his contract. Madrid had shown a desire to sign him a year ago, but Arsenal pipped the La Liga heavyweights to his signature.
Zubimendi proved instrumental in Arsenal's achievements last season, featuring in 57 appearances across all competitions and contributing to the Gunners' Premier League title triumph and their run to the Champions League final, despite his involvement gradually reducing as the season progressed.
With the Community Shield clash against Manchester City scheduled for next weekend, followed by the Premier League season opener at home to Coventry City, Arsenal's remaining transfer business remains unclear.
