Arsenal have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of next weekend's north London derby against Tottenham, with defender Gabriel Magalhaes sustaining a muscle injury while on international duty with Brazil.
The 27-year-old hobbled off during Brazil's 2-0 friendly win at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, and scans have confirmed a muscle injury in his right thigh. He will miss Brazil's match against Tunisia and is now a major doubt for the clash with Spurs.
Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti expressed his disappointment, saying the medical staff would check the issue. Meanwhile, left-back Riccardo Calafiori also returned to Arsenal early from Italy duty as a precaution, though his problem is not thought to be serious.
In other news, former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva has urged the club to sign Real Madrid winger Rodrygo. The Brazil international has struggled for playing time under Xabi Alonso this season and has yet to score.
