Wolves have mocked Premier League rivals Chelsea in a video announcing the signing of Brazilian teenager Pedro Lima. The 18-year-old, who was also a target for Chelsea, has signed a five-year deal at Molineux with an option for a further year.
The club spent around £8.5 million to secure the highly-rated defender, who made 26 appearances for Palmeiras in his first senior season. Lima also impressed for Brazil's youth team at last year's U17 World Cup, featuring in all five of the country's games.
Wolves posted a video on X showing 'agent' Matheus Cunha finalising the transfer while laughing at a story suggesting Chelsea had already agreed a deal. Lima then enters the room and signs his contract.
Sporting director Matt Hobbs confirmed Lima chose Wolves over Chelsea, stating: 'He made a big decision in deciding to come to us over Chelsea and for a 17-year-old boy to make that decision shows a real sign of strength.' Hobbs added that the club's project, pathway and opportunity appealed to Lima, rather than location, size or money.
Lima becomes Wolves' fourth summer signing, following Tommy Doyle's permanent move from Manchester City and the acquisitions of Rodrigo Gomes and Jorgen Strand Larsen.
