Arsenal won the Community Shield for a record 17th time after beating Manchester City 5-4 on penalties at Wembley. The match had ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Leandro Trossard scored for Arsenal in the 68th minute, cancelling out an earlier goal from City's Erling Haaland. The Belgian winger curled a shot into the bottom corner after a pass from Bukayo Saka.
Haaland had put City ahead in the 25th minute with a close-range finish from a Kevin De Bruyne cross. The Norwegian striker's goal was his first in a Community Shield.
Penalty shootout
In the shootout, both sides converted their first four penalties before City's Manuel Akanji saw his effort saved by Aaron Ramsdale. Arsenal's Fabio Vieira then scored the winning spot-kick.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said the victory was a "really special" moment and praised his team's character. "We showed great resilience and belief," he added.
City manager Pep Guardiola said his side were "disappointed" but insisted the performance was positive. "We created chances and played well, but football is about moments," he said.
The win gives Arsenal their first trophy under Arteta and provides momentum ahead of the new Premier League season, which begins next weekend.
