Antony, Scott sent off in pre-season brawl

Both Antony and Alex Scott were sent off during a brawl in a pre-season friendly between Bournemouth and Real Betis on Saturday.

Incident before half-time

The match at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville ended 2-2, but was overshadowed by the scenes just before half-time. Betis striker Nelson Deossa smashed the ball into Bafode Diakite, earning a yellow card, but was then confronted by several Bournemouth players.

Antony, on loan at Betis from Manchester United, was seen shoving Bournemouth players, prompting Scott to rush over. Scott wagged his finger in Antony's face, and the Brazilian tried to engage with the English midfielder, who had started to walk away.

Red cards shown

The referee eventually regained control and sent both players off, with red cards shown just before the half-time whistle.

Manager's reaction

Bournemouth boss Marco Rose said: "If we are part of these kind of games, I'm not surprised about the physical intense, and yeah, good game. I think we did well, we played a top team from Europe, Champions League team with really good players, a good approach."

"The environment was special, we had more than 40 degrees today here. But the players, I think, did well. We suffered at the beginning a little bit with our possession game, we lost too many balls, but then we came with our strengths, pressing into the game."

"We scored a nice goal after we won a ball. And yeah, we conceded two unlucky goals, we can defend it surely much better. But at the end, we have this experience, we had a good test, a good exercise, and now we are waiting for the next game, Mainz, and then we are looking forward to start the season."
