Bullet Fired at Chiefs Stadium Missed Coach Andy Reid by 15ft

A bullet fired into the office of Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid at the team's practice facility last spring narrowly missed the veteran coach, according to a report by the Kansas City Star.

The incident occurred in early May 2024 when Reid was working alone in his office. A bullet from outside broke through the glass window and blinds, eventually lodging in a wall 15ft from where Reid was sitting. The Chiefs subsequently installed bulletproof glass.

Two more bullets struck the facility, with one hitting the third floor and another an outdoor air-conditioning unit. Few within the organisation were aware of the incident. The Kansas City Police Department is treating it as an aggravated assault.

“There is no indication this was a targeted incident at any person or organisation,” said Captain Jacob Becchina, a police spokesperson. No arrests have been made and no charges filed.

The Chiefs declined to comment. Reid, who has led Kansas City to three Super Bowl titles since 2019, is next scheduled to address the media after the team's final preseason game against the Chicago Bears on Friday.
