AC Milan, under head coach Ruben Amorim, are planning a double transfer swoop on Manchester United, targeting defender Leny Yoro and forward Joshua Zirkzee in deals that could total around £72m, according to reports.
Yoro identified as summer target
Milan are keen to sign Yoro as they look to rebuild their defence next summer, with the Serie A club reportedly 'particularly interested' in the 20-year-old. Yoro joined United from Lille in a £52.2m deal in July 2024 under Erik ten Hag, but a pre-season foot injury delayed his debut, and he did not play under the Dutchman.
Ten Hag was sacked in October 2024, with Amorim appointed the following month. Yoro made his United debut in a 2-0 defeat at Arsenal in December 2024, when Amorim was in charge. In total, Yoro featured 53 times under Amorim before the Portuguese was dismissed in January 2026. Michael Carrick replaced him and has used Yoro at both centre-back and right-back.
On Sunday, Yoro made an error that led to Bournemouth's second goal in a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford. Milan's intention is to close the transfer for around £33.4m to £42m, and Yoro has a contract until 2029.
Defensive concerns and winter targets
Amorim, confirmed as Milan's head coach in the summer, is keen to bolster his defence, according to Calciomercato. Matteo Gabbia is out long-term, while Mario Gila has joined him in the treatment room, leaving Amorim concerned about his defensive options.
The Serie A side are looking to add a defender during the winter transfer window, with Bayern Munich's Kim Min-jae and Sporting CP's Gonçalo Inacio at the top of their shopping list. Milan are hoping their relationship with Yoro's agent, Jorge Mendes, can help finalise the operation.
Zirkzee also on Milan's radar
Milan are also keeping an eye on forward Joshua Zirkzee, with United reportedly wanting £30m for the Netherlands international, in whom Amorim has shown interest. Zirkzee appeared surplus to requirements under Carrick during his interim spell last season, failing to break 100 minutes played, but he has already surpassed that total a few months into the 2026/27 campaign.
Injury problems for Benjamin Sesko have seen the 25-year-old make several substitute appearances, and the increased minutes earned him a recall to the Dutch national team in place of the injured Brian Brobbey. He scored the winner in their 2-1 win against Serbia earlier this month.
Despite that, United still want to sell and are willing to accept a fee in the region of €35m (£30m), while also being open to an initial loan deal.
