Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has said he has not spoken to Cole Palmer about the player's latest omission from the England squad.
On Friday morning, it was announced that Palmer had not been called up by Thomas Tuchel for the Three Lions' Nations League games against Croatia and Spain next week. The attacking midfielder was initially selected for the autumn international break but dropped out with a minor injury after medical checks.
Palmer has not played for England since the March camp, having also been left out of Tuchel's World Cup squad in the summer.
Alonso's response
Asked at his press conference on Friday afternoon whether he had spoken to Palmer about the snub, Alonso said: "No, we have not spoken about that."
"We are very happy with Cole. He is connecting very well with the other attackers and is helping the team," the Chelsea boss added.
Tuchel's stance
Tuchel has repeated his belief that the Chelsea star "misses too many opportunities to impress" for his country.
"Everyone is desperate to play for England, and Cole is no exception," the England boss said. "But, again, what I said last time: he misses too many opportunities to impress. Two-and-a-half weeks was a long time [to miss]. The door is always open, but nothing has changed, and we decided [to go] without him."
International breaks
Alonso also said he would not tell players to miss the international break. "No. I never tell," the Spaniard said. "When a player is fully fit, he's selectable. When he's not fit, we try to give the national team reasonable information to decide together. Sometimes it's not good for the player."
