Sydney Swans Midfielder Taylor Adams Hospitalised Following Alleged Rose Bay Assault
Sydney Swans AFL player Taylor Adams was rushed to hospital after being knocked unconscious during an incident outside a licensed venue in the harbourside suburb of Rose Bay on Saturday night. The 32-year-old midfielder, who joined the Swans from Collingwood at the end of 2023, sustained a small facial cut and briefly lost consciousness after allegedly being assaulted.
Police Investigation Underway After Alleged Altercation
New South Wales police were called to Vickery Avenue in Rose Bay just after 10pm following reports of an altercation. According to police statements, Adams was allegedly assaulted by two men after an argument at the venue. Both men had left the scene before officers arrived and are not known to Adams, authorities confirmed.
Paramedics from NSW Ambulance attended to Adams at the scene before transporting him to St Vincent's Hospital for further assessment and treatment. The Sydney Swans confirmed in an official statement that Adams was discharged from hospital at 7am on Sunday morning and will be monitored on a daily basis.
Club Condemns Violence and Cooperates with Police
The Sydney Swans issued a strong statement regarding the incident, emphasising their zero-tolerance policy towards violence. "The Sydney Swans does not tolerate violence in any form and is working with Adams and NSW police to identify the offender," the club declared.
The incident reportedly occurred outside Club Rose Bay, a popular venue owned by Justin Hemmes's Merivale Group. The establishment had recently reopened following extensive refurbishments.
Adams's Challenging Season and Injury History
This incident adds to what has been a difficult period for the veteran midfielder. Adams has been spending his pre-season in rehabilitation after suffering a partial tear of his achilles tendon in December. Last season, his second with the Swans, was marred by recurring hamstring injuries that limited him to just four appearances.
The one-time All-Australian player made the high-profile move from Collingwood at the end of 2023, unfortunately missing out on a spot in the 2024 grand final against Brisbane under then coach John Longmire. His transition to the Swans has been hampered by both injury setbacks and now this off-field incident.
Police investigations into the alleged assault continue as the AFL community awaits further updates on Adams's condition and recovery.
