Stacey Flounders, the ex-girlfriend of former England footballer Adam Johnson, has told a jury at Bradford Crown Court that they split after he admitted cheating on her with 'quite a few' women. Flounders, the mother of Johnson's one-year-old daughter, said she did not see a future in their relationship.
Giving evidence for the defence, Flounders described how Johnson told her 'everything' about kissing a 15-year-old girl after his arrest in March last year. When asked if he mentioned other women, she replied: 'The other women that he cheated on me with.' Asked how many, she said: 'Quite a few.'
Flounders said she stayed with Johnson after his arrest 'because he was honest with me' and she wanted them to be a family for their daughter. However, she now says they are 'just going to remain friends' and sees no future in the relationship.
During cross-examination, prosecutor Kate Blackwell QC asked Flounders if Johnson had told her about specific details of the incident, such as kissing with tongues and exchanging messages. Flounders agreed he had not, though he mentioned asking for a 'thank you kiss'.
Earlier, Flounders was asked about Johnson's pubic hair. The teenager involved claimed Johnson was shaved, but Flounders said he would only trim with scissors.
Johnson, 28, denies two counts of sexual activity with a child. He has already pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child and one charge of grooming, relating to kissing the girl in his car.
