Rangers fan letter to Cavenagh as Nygren gets £50m tag

A panicky Rangers diehard has sent an open letter to club supremo Andrew Cavenagh pleading for change before the season unravels, while Celtic star Benjamin Nygren has reportedly been handed a £50m price tag.

Rangers have the weekend off as they prepare for their make-or-break Europa Conference League showdown, but there is no rest for the Hotline as fans weigh in on the mounting pressure on manager Derek McInnes.

Fans demand change at Ibrox

Peter Cooperwhite wrote: "Dear Mr Cavanagh, please listen to us. You brought in Russell Martin and look at the mess he left. Please get rid of McInnes, Shankland and Devlin before the season gets really serious."

Joe Graham from Garrowhill is fearing the worst too: "Another disappointing result for Derek McInnes at home in the lowest Conference League. I am beginning to wonder what his best XI will eventually be. His tactics are something else. To be 1-0 up with ten men and take off a striker to replace with another striker amazes me. The game finished with a one-goal advantage to take to the return game. I really hope for his sake that it is enough. If it isn't, then he is in serious trouble keeping his job."

Record Sport revealed that Rangers are in talks to re-sign Vaclav Cerny in an £8m deal. Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, said: "The team is struggling for results, with back-to-back Old Firm games coming that have to be won. Bottom line, if they want Cerny, then Cavenagh has to pay top dollar for a player of quality, if that means a successful season."

Celtic's Champions League boost

With Rangers' Europa Conference League hopes in the balance, Paul McCardle from Gourock teased: "It's ok, Teddy Bears. When your team go out of your second diddy European competition this season, your club drop into The Tennents' Sixes."

Nicolas Raskin was dropped to the bench on Thursday night as speculation continues to swirl over his future. Stephen Mulhern claimed: "Martin O'Neill has to be congratulated for informing Celtic fans that Arne Engels refused to play in the Champions League qualifier in case of risking injury. Unlike Derek McInnes, who was surely being economical with the truth. Overrated Raskin was omitted from his starting line-up. If he was indeed carrying an injury why then was he on the bench?"

Celtic could be having a ball in the Champions League this season after a commanding 3-0 first-leg play-off win over LASK. Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, wants free agent Jamie Vardy to join the party: "Celtic have one foot in the promised land of the Champions League - and a golden leaden transfer war chest. One staring them in the face is Jamie Vardy wanting to return home from Italy for one last crack at the big time. The Champions League is where he hopes to be, so sign him and he will get you the goals."

Charles Maxwell reckons Super Swede Benjamin Nygren will earn Celtic a fortune: "I wondered how Celtic would cope against LASK without Arne Engels, who actually only averaged one goal every 20 games from open play. Just fine was the answer. I don't think we could say the same if we lost goal-a-game Benji Nygren. The guy's stats are incredible. I really hope he stays beyond the January window. But with bids set to start at £50m for the midfield goal machine, I'm not sure we will be able to keep him."
