Newcastle United goalkeeper coach Daniel Garcia has left the club to join Aston Villa, becoming the latest member of Eddie Howe's former backroom team to depart St James' Park.
Garcia, who hails from Madrid, was part of Howe's Carabao Cup-winning backroom team in 2025 and was promoted to the senior staff in 2022 after initially joining the Academy goalkeeping backroom. The 30-year-old originally joined from Rayo Vallecano and had served the Magpies since 2018.
Further departures follow Howe exit
Garcia follows Jason Tindall, Graeme Jones, Simon Weatherstone and Stephen Purches out of the door at the KNOX, with all having left after Howe's departure. Dan Hodges, Howe's trusted trainer, has also left the club.
Garcia now links up with Villa manager Unai Emery. He said: "I've joined Aston Villa as Goalkeeping Assistant Coach. Today the season starts. Proud to be part of it. Up the Villa."
Jaissle brings in new staff
New Toon boss Matthias Jaissle has drafted in Alexander Hauser as assistant coach, Engin Yanova, also an assistant coach, Florens Koch as coach, Maximilian Fischer as coach analyst, Steffen Konrad also as coach analyst, and Alexander Bade as goalkeeper coach.
Jaissle has essentially made a clean break with backroom staff, with only fitness coaches remaining behind the scenes.
