Sandro Tonali faced his former Newcastle United teammates for the first time on Saturday night, and the Magpies' travelling supporters made their feelings clear with a frosty reception.
The Italian midfielder completed a £100million move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur this summer, a transfer he later admitted took him "10 minutes" to decide on, joining Roberto de Zerbi's side after three seasons at St James' Park.
Booing from the away end
Newcastle fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium were heard booing whenever Tonali touched the ball, showing their disapproval at his decision to leave. His departure from Tyneside had been on good terms, in contrast to Alexander Isak's £125m switch to Liverpool last summer.
Jaissle plays down reunion
Magpies head coach Matthias Jaissle spoke to Sky Sports before the match about how his players were approaching the reunion with Tonali.
He said: "I think they are motivated, yes definitely. It is always the case if an old team-mate is in the opposition team, but I don't wat to make that topic bigger than it is."
"We focus on our performance and that is the biggest approach for tonight."
