Mudryk's Doping Ban Decision Pending as He Trains Daily Amid Low Spirits

Mykhailo Mudryk's mood is low as he awaits a decision following a positive test for the prohibited substance meldonium, according to Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Sergei Palkin. The Chelsea winger has not played since 2024 and was charged by the Football Association with anti-doping breaches. He faces a potential ban of up to four years, though his sanction has yet to be announced.

Palkin, who witnessed Mudryk's progress through Shakhtar's academy and his £88.5million transfer to Chelsea, expressed confidence that the 25-year-old's legal team will find a resolution. 'For me, it's a big pity what has happened because this guy did everything in his life to stay on the top level,' Palkin said. 'I believe that his lawyers will find solutions and he will return to football as soon as possible.'

Despite his low spirits, Mudryk remains committed to maintaining his fitness. He has been sharing individual training sessions on Instagram and hiring out facilities, including a 3G pitch at Uxbridge's Honeycroft. Palkin noted, 'He dedicates almost the whole day to train and to keep himself in a good level, physically and mentally.'

The World Anti-Doping Agency confirmed in November that they were still awaiting disciplinary proceedings from the FA. Mudryk's ban, if imposed, could keep him sidelined for up to four years, but his supporters remain hopeful for a swift return.
