Morgan Gibbs-White has recovered from a minor injury and is expected to feature in Nottingham Forest's Premier League clash against Liverpool, while seven players will miss the match.
Gibbs-White and Yates Available for Forest
Oliver Glasner has revealed that Morgan Gibbs-White has recovered from a minor injury ahead of the trip to Anfield. The Englishman missed his side's Carabao Cup defeat to Leeds United due to a knee issue after awkwardly twisting it over the weekend.
Glasner confirmed there was no ligament damage and stated that both Gibbs-White and Ryan Yates will be back this weekend. On Friday, he said: "Morgan is available, and Ryan Yates is available, which is good news."
Liverpool's Injury Concerns
Liverpool manager Arne Slot, however, was unable to confirm any good news of his own, with Joe Gomez and Federico Chiesa ruled out. Speaking about Chiesa on Thursday, he said: "Fede is not available. In the [pre-season] game against Como, he felt something at the back - it’s a small muscle injury. He is not available."
Gomez has a knee problem, but there is hope he can return next month. Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are also still out because of issues in that same area. Hugo Ekitike is a long-term absentee having ruptured his Achilles back in April.
Forest's Additional Absences and Doubts
Forest have some more minor problems, with Neco Williams a slight doubt because of a head injury. Ibrahim Sangare has a calf issue serious enough to rule him out of the trip to Anfield. Glasner stated on Friday: "Ibrahim has picked up a minor calf injury in Wednesday's training session and will miss tomorrow's game."
Nicolo Savona remains some distance from a comeback after suffering a setback in his recovery from a knee problem. There are also a few small concerns over the match fitness of Jeremy Jacquet and Alexander Isak, with both players having missed significant spells last season.
Expected Starters and Transfer Speculation
Despite this, the duo are both expected to feature from the off on Saturday, alongside Cody Gakpo, even with the ongoing speculation surrounding his future. With Liverpool now widely anticipated to complete the signing of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, the Dutchman could be heading for the exit door in the closing stages of the window, with Tottenham and Manchester City among those credited with an interest.
