Amara Nallo has returned to Liverpool after his loan move to HJK Helsinki was terminated because of injury. The defender joined the Finnish outfit in July on a temporary deal until the end of the Veikkausliiga campaign in November.
However, the 19-year-old is now back on Merseyside prematurely to undergo his rehabilitation at his parent club after it became clear that he would not return to fitness before the end of the Finnish season.
Loan spell details
The former West Ham United youngster, who has made three senior appearances for Liverpool to date, started three times for HJK - twice in the Veikkausliiga and once against Motherwell in the UEFA Conference League - and was named in a further three matchday squads.
But Nallo has been sidelined since the beginning of September after picking up a leg injury.
Official confirmation
HJK confirmed his return in an official statement which read: “Amara Nallo's loan spell at HJK has ended due to an injury.
“Nallo, who previously served as captain of Liverpool’s U21 team, arrived at Klubi in July on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.
“After receiving his work permit, the 19-year-old centre-back managed to play two Veikkausliiga matches in August, as well as an away game against Motherwell in the Conference League qualifiers.
“An injury kept Nallo on the sidelines for all of September, and he will not recover in time before the end of the Veikkausliiga season.
“The centre-back has already returned to Liverpool to rehabilitate his leg injury. Thank you for the visit, Amara!”
Liverpool also confirmed Nallo’s return with the defender now set to undergo his recovery at the AXA Training Centre.
